30 Mar Karyn Temple Named Register of Copyrights
The Graphic Artists Guild welcomes the appointment of Karyn Temple as the Register of Copyrights. Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden announced the appointment on Wednesday, March 27, 2019. The appointment follows Temple’s two-and-a-half year tenure as Acting Register of Copyrights. Temple supports visual artists and our advocacy for a small copyright claims tribunal. She has been generous in meeting with visual artist associations, most recently this past December. In a recent letter to Congress, she focused on the concerns of visual artists.
As Acting Register of Copyrights, Temple initiated the implementation of the Copyright Office modernization plan. Prior to that she served as Associate Register, directing the Office of Policy and International Affairs, which represents the Copyright Office in meetings with government officials concerned with international copyright issues. Her previous government experience was with the Justice Department, where she worked as senior counsel to the deputy attorney general and helped manage the Task Force on Intellectual Property.
