More About This Webinar or Presenter

Are you finding that referrals aren’t coming as often as they used to, and even when they do come, they’re often not the kind of clients you really want to work with? More and more creatives, who for years had depended on word-of-mouth for getting clients, have been saying it isn’t happening as much for them any more. And they had been relying so much on word-of-mouth for getting business, that many of them don’t have any other marketing methods in place. This can be a big problem.

Getting great referrals is part of the most important thing you can work on as a business owner — which is attracting ideal clients. And you can take control of this process, making sure the referrals you get are more targeted and more consistent.

In this session you will learn:

  • The 2 major problems with referrals — and what you can do to fix them
  • Why you don’t get more referrals, even if the work you do is spectacular and your clients love you — and what to do about it
  • Why many of the referrals you get now don’t work for you
  • The Number 1 thing that will kill the chances of a referral for you — and you may not even know it’s happening
  • How to ensure that the referrals you get fit you, and are people you really want to work with
  • When is the best time to ask for referrals
  • What needs to be in place before anyone, even your mother or your best friend, will refer you

About Our Presenter

For over 25 years, as owner of Hoeck Associates, Inc., a leading marketing communications firm in Toledo, Ohio, Marcia Hoeck lived what she now teaches.

Like many creative business owners, Marcia found the business aspects of her work to be troublesome. Out of necessity and survival, she developed simple methods to take the complexity out of the way her business ran. The results: a terrific team of people who stayed long term, profitable clients who came back year after year, a very manageable workload, and a business with great flexibility.

Because people often “picked her brain” about how she was able to create a sturdy, profitable business that ran so smoothly and lasted so long, Marcia decided to turn her attention to helping make business easy for other creative business owners through coaching and consulting. She sold the assets of her marketing communications firm in 2009, and often speaks in person and on teleclasses and webinars on business-building topics.

Marcia shares her home with an amazing bichon, Amazing Grace, and a miniature long-haired dachshund, Liesl Diesel Weasel Bezo, who needs a long name. She won her husband’s heart by juggling, and in the fourth grade, was Hula Hoop Queen of the whole block.
