This webinar sketches out current career paths for cartoonists. Mark Monlux has been freelancing since 1985 and now the bulk of his work is in various aspects of Graphic Facilitation, Ideation, Illustration, Cartoon Reporter, Sketchnoter, and Whiteboard Animation. Ian Castruita is an illustrator and cartoonist specializing in telling stories with images for corporations, educational publishers, and business incubators. Together they articulate job possibilities open to cartoonists in the world of business.

About the Presenters:

Mark Monlux is an award winning illustrator and cartoonist. Freelancing since 1985, the bulk of his work has been in the adverting and publishing world, his work in recent years has turned to various aspects of Graphic Facilitation; Ideation Illustration, Cartoon Reporter, Sketchnoter, and Whiteboard Animation. He has a national reputation for his knowledge on copyright law, contracts, good trade practice, and business ethics. He cofounded The C.L.A.W. The Cartoonists’ League of Absurd Washingtonians, served on the Guild’s National & Executive Committees of the Graphic Artist Guild for several years. His is also a member of the National Cartoonists Society and Cartoonists Northwest. He is currently producing a series of “Law & Artist” videos with Daniel Abraham.

Ian Castruita is an Arizona State University alumnus working out of Tempe, Arizona. After graduating ASU in 2002, he worked part-time freelance as an illustrator and portrait artist until 2016, when he started his company Unfed Artist. Over the years, Ian has worked for large and small companies as well as private clients; creating educational, personal and marketing comics in addition to traditional illustrations and graphic design work such as advertisements and book layouts.
