ABOUT THIS ARTIST

Jason Justice, Graphic Designer

Graphic Design for Social Change! // For the past 24 years, I have provided professional freelance graphic design for grassroots movements for social change. I have no corporate clients, all of the people, organizations, and movements I work with are committed to social justice. // My work has been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York (2005-2006), the Thoreau Center for Sustainability in San Francisco (Graphic Dissent, 2006), the Yerba Buena Center in SF (Occupy Designs exhibit, 2012), and more. // ARTIST'S STATEMENT: Graphic design is about art and communication. Social change is about collective liberation, mutual aid, self-determination and uprooting dominator culture. Combining graphic design and social change gives us the tools to effectively voice our values, visions and ideas, and help determine the path of our common future. // Graphic design is not supposed to be political, but it is. It's used to promote almost every major agenda, from advertising, global corporate hegemony and endless war, to peace, social justice and ecology. Who we work for and what we do impacts the world in which we live. // I am part of a growing movement of principled graphic and web designers committed to socially responsible work and progressive values. My work is meant to serve those organizations, groups and movements which are dedicated to building a better world.

Art or photography in portfolios submitted for a job should not be copied for any use, including client presentation or “comping,” without the creator’s permission. In case after case, the creator’s property rights have been upheld, and those caught engaging in these practices were penalized, paying large fines to the artists.
