As a business coach for creative freelancers and entrepreneurs, this is one of the most common questions I receive from creatives who know they’re undercharging, but don’t know what to do about it.
Perhaps you’ve been there too? Or maybe it’s something you’re struggling with right now.
There’s no shame in this game. Pricing is HARD! After all:
Given the complexities of pricing creativity, Is it any wonder that creatives tend to default to the most acceptable pricing model – an hourly rate?
But here’s the thing with hourly pricing: there are only so many billable hours in a day, you can only raise you rate so high before pricing yourself out of projects, and hourly rates invite low-balling from clients who are seeking the cheapest fastest option (pssst, those clients are the worst!).
