30 Dec Guild 2023 Q4 President’s Report
Hey there, Graphic Artists Guild Family!
Yanique DaCosta here, your fearless leader through the 2023-2025 term. I’m super excited to spill the beans on all the fantastic things brewing in our Guild pot!
New Members, Get Ready! We rolled out the red carpet with bi-monthly Orientations in 2023. It’s not just a meet-and-greet; it’s your golden ticket to Guild goodies. And guess what? Thanks to feedback in one of our very first orientations, we’re launching a shiny “Get Started” hub – think of it as your personal Guild GPS, guiding you to all the cool spots in between orientations.
Scholarships for a Brighter Future
Our DEIB Committee is not just talking the talk; they’re walking the walk with a brand-spanking-new scholarship program. This aligns with our commitment to fostering and growing an inclusive graphic arts industry. Want to apply or feeling generous? Hop over to graphicartistsguild.org/dei – it’s where the magic happens!
Happy Transition Hub
Change is scary, but hey, we’ve got your back!Whether it’s tech gremlins or layoffs, our Happy Transition Hub at graphicartistsguild.org/happytransition is like your personal cheerleader, rooting for you as you leap into the future! Coming January 2024!
Mentorship Extravaganza
Get ready to be mind-blown! Brittany Lewis, our Southern Regional Rep, will be launching a mentorship program in Q2 2024. From marketing and money matters to business development, we’ve got your mentorship cravings covered.
Networking Bonanza
Kathleen Waters, our Mid-Western Region Rep, is busy plotting networking fiestas. We’re talking about mingling with the who’s who in the industries that spend the most with us like decision markers in marketing, licensing, or publishing to name a few. Get ready to virtually rub elbows and maybe even high-five potential clients!
Your Feedback Matters
Thanks to your insights from our recent in-person event survey, we’re exploring exciting options for in-person events that fit our budget and your preferences.
Guild Merchandise is Here!
If you missed our Black Friday sale, don’t worry. Our Guild Store, featuring items like the notorious “OH Crop” tshirt by Crisy Meschieri Dyment, is still stocked at graphicartistsguild.org/guild-store/.

Advocacy Adventures
Our Advocacy Liaison, Delanie West, attended the Coin Base Advocacy Town Hall in Chicago, a gathering of innovators discussing the decentralized web’s potential.
I also joined her in DC for the annual Visual Associations Meeting where we joined the organization leaders and ushered in the new faces of the Guild.
Looking Ahead to 2024
As we embrace new possibilities, we invite you to join us in shaping the future of our community. We’re seeking volunteers in areas like Brand Visuals, Digital Marketing, Public Relations, Event Planning, and Community Engagement.
