What’s the difference? Trademarks, Patents, Copyrights & Trade Secrets Explained

While people often discuss intellectual property, many are not sure about the different types of intellectual property that is available and what each is good for.  This ~1 hour presentation will provide a brief overview of trademarks, patents, copyrights, and trade secrets.   Each type of IP will be addressed along with examples to explain what it covers and how protection can be obtained.  Practical tips about protecting, strengthening, and enforcing your IP and common pitfalls to avoid will also be discussed.

Bio –

Mitchell Feller is a partner at the law firm of Gottlieb Rackman & Reisman, PC, an intellectual property boutique that has been providing legal advice on all aspects of intellectual property law for over 45 years.  Mr. Feller’s practice focuses on issues involving the development and use of technology, with an emphasis on patent protection, analysis, and litigation in the electronic and computer fields.  He also counsels his clients on issues related to protection and litigation of trademarks, copyrights, and other aspects of intellectual property.  His corporate practice addresses transactional issues including sales and licensing, corporate diligence, and technology development.  He frequently works with small and start-up companies to help them develop appropriate strategies for protecting their IP.

Mr. Feller received his J.D. from New York University.  He has an advanced degree in electrical engineering from Columbia University and worked for several years as a computer design engineer at IBM before attending law school.
