Learn About The Southern Region

The Southern Region provides an ever-expanding range of resources and opportunities for Guild members in Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas whose backgrounds span various artistic disciplines and skill levels. We are here to provide a voice for students, associates and professional artists so we can improve our profession together.

When becoming a member of the Graphic Artists Guild you will also become affiliated with one of five Guild Regions.

Once a member you will receive mailings and communications from the National office including your copy of Graphic Artists Guild Handbook: Pricing and Ethical Guidelines, our quarterly print newsletter titled Guild News, a monthly email which is a digest of articles and interviews from our blog, and updates about member benefits including webinar registration deadlines.

Your Regional communications will keep you posted about local events to benefit your communication design career including lectures, skills training and networking events.

Please email Paula Hinkle, National Administrative Director for the Graphic Artists Guild, to learn your regional affiliation of the Graphic Artists Guild and to receive the Guild email newsletter which includes local and national events: membership@graphicartistsguild.org

The Southern Region Rep., Yanique DaCosta

Yanique DaCosta

Born in Jamaica and migrated to the United States in pursuits of educational advancements, serial entrepreneur Yanique DaCosta received her Associate's Degree in Graphic Design, Bachelor's Degree in Studio Arts and Master's of Fine Arts in Media Design.

Yanique is an eager member of the Guild. She is ready to play active rolls within the organization while holding title of Southern Region Representative.

“As a millennial creative, I have found that our generation lacks the resources we need to remove ourselves from the starving artist lifestyle. The Guild can help young Graphic Artists, such as myself, find a clear path through the cobwebs of the Art business. I want to help get this message to my peers as well continue to support and learn from those that entered this world before us.”
– Yanique DaCosta.

Within her career she has helped build varying lifestyle brands such as Jones Lang & LaSalle, Clear Channel, Norwegian Cruise Lines, Open English, Zerofractal, HBO and Dark Rome. In 2014 she made a dramatic addition to her portfolio by working for the industrial division of Micro Matic LLC where she was the Senior Graphic Designer and Marketing Associate.

In addition to being a passionate creative, with skill sets such as drawing, illustrating, painting and textile design, she is also a full-time big sister to my now fourteen year old brother. With that being said, she continues to work diligently and creatively so he may have an example to follow.

Southern Region Networking Groups

There are Guild members in most US areas. We’d love to help you set up a meeting time at your favorite meeting spot.

Guild members in various regions are getting together on a monthly or quarterly basis for breakfast or lunch and are starting to make it work for them.

The benefits of having a local meet up are:
• Learn from your peers about industry or business questions you may have.
• Discuss local topics affecting the industry.
• Meet other professionals in your area that you may be able to partner up with.
• Make money by referring projects to one another.
• Meet new friends.

Other members are having a great time on a regular basis and are sending work to one another. Make it work for you too!
